Counselling Skills Level 2

Attendance: Open learning   

Location: Classroom

What are the aims of this course?

This course is ideal for people using communication within their work and is designed to improve listening skills. The course is classroom-based and will provide you within an introduction to basic techniques.

You will be required to submit a journal of personal learning and experience for external assessment.

What are the areas covered by this course?

The course covers the following areas:

  • Using Counselling Skills
  • Introduction to Counselling Skills
  • Diversity and Ethics in the use of Counselling Skills
  • Personal Development
What qualifications do I need to do this course?

Competition for places with employers can be fierce, so applicants will need to show that they are committed, happy to work as part of a team and individually, and able to use their own initiative. Good GCSE results in English and Maths (e.g. grades A-C) are preferred.

  • You must be aged 18 or above.
How is the course assessed?

The NVQ Certificate is assessed through portfolio building, tutor observation and assignments.

What qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?

At the end of the programme apprentices will have achieved:

  • ABC Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?

When you have successfully completed this course there are numerous opportunities for further study including the Certificate in Counselling programme accredited by ABC and kite marked by BACP.
