Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 2 Apprenticeship

Location: Workbased & Classroom

What are the aims of this course?

This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s environments including early years and social care. It is suitable for all those who wish to work or are working in a supervised role in the Children and Young People’s Workforce in England.

What are the areas covered by this course?

The Apprenticeship covers the following:

  • You will complete mandatory units which are:
  • Contributing to positive relationships
  • Helping to keep children safe
  • Supporting development
  • Using support to develop own practice in children’s care, learning and development
  • Preparing and maintaining environments to meet children’s needs
  • Supporting children’s play and learning.
What qualifications do I need to do this course?
  • If you are aged 16 or over and working full time for 30 hours or more per week you can do an Apprenticeship. It’s that easy!
  • You must be an EU citizen and have lived within the EU continuously for the last 3 years,
  • You must not have a degree, HND, HNC, Foundation Degree or be studying towards any of these.
  • You must be willing to sign up to our Apprentice scheme for 12 months.
How is the course assessed?

Your personal assessor will visit you at work to help you to achieve your Apprenticeship and gain your qualification. You will complete a range of mandatory and optional units which will give you valuable knowledge and develop work related skills.

What qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?

On completion of your Apprenticeship you will have achieved:

  • Level 2 Certificate for the Children and the Young People’s Workforce
  • Functional skills in maths, English and ICT
What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?

Apprentices can progress to a level 3 qualification.

What are the career opportunities?

A level 2 qualification opens the door to a wide range of job roles within the early years setting. These can include: Nursery Assistant, Playgroup Assistant, Au Pair, Pre School Assistant.
