Clinical Healthcare Support Level 2 Apprenticeship

Attendance: Full time   

Location: Workbased & Classroom

What are the aims of this course?

This qualification will support learners to develop the knowledge and skills required to work in a range of clinical healthcare support settings.

Topics covered include assisting in the administration of medicine, supporting individuals with day to day activities and understanding mental health and well-being.

What are the areas covered by this course?
  • Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
  • The Principles of Infection Prevention and Control
  • Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Handle information in health and social care settings
  • Principles of Health Promotion (HP1)
  • Promotion of General Health and Well-being (HP3)
  • Select and wear appropriate personal protective equipment for work in health care settings (HSS / GEN002)
  • Prepare individuals for healthcare activities (HSS / GEN004)
  • Support individuals undergoing healthcare activities (HSC 2025)
  • Monitor and maintain the environment and resources during and after clinical / therapeutic activities (HSS / GEN007)
  • First Aid Essentials (CHS 35)
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Understand Mental Health Problems
What qualifications do I need to do this course?
  • Applicants should: – have basic literacy and numeracy skills – be willing to work as part of a team – have a keen interest in providing high standards of customer service – expect to work at heights and in enclosed spaces
  • You must be an EU citizen and have lived within the EU continuously for the last 3 years,
  • You must not have a degree, HND, HNC, Foundation Degree or be studying towards any of these.
  • You must be willing to sign up to our Apprentice scheme for 12 months.
How is the course assessed?

It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments.

What qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?

At the end of the programme apprentices will have achieved:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support
  • Level 1 Maths and English Functional Skills
